What is a board member?

Thank you for exploring what it is to become a board member with First Tee – Virginia Peninsula. Board members are essential to the community and to our program!

Board members

• Are advocates for the program by providing positive support of the organization to the general public.
• Recommend actions or policies to staff and the governing board of the YMCA.
• Support the full achievement of First Tee – Virginia Peninsula vision through personal contributions and securing adequate funds for community inclusion in programming.

The time commitment varies, but it is generally about 1 hour a month.

The branch board is a highly regarded volunteer leadership opportunity in the community, it performs as a team, First Tee – Virginia Peninsula image is enhanced, and the annual campaign grows annually in funds and friends raised.
